In a completely different universe, where humanoids came to life, that’s where everything started for the very first time. Today I want to talk about my favorite video game, called Detroit: Become Human. It's about a war between humans and robots, where robots finally discover their true purpose in life and instead of following human orders, they decide they want to be free.
Those days, technology became both fascinating and terrifying, right?
So what if that happened in real life? What if all of a sudden, a robot that is not programmed to feel things, to behave like a human, suddenly starts doing it?
This amazing game talks about all those topics, as it deeply enters the subjects of freedom, finding who you really are, and fighting for your will.
The main characters are three robots: Kara, Markus, and Connor. Markus works for an old man called Karl; he takes care of him as Karl is not that stable anymore and his health is degrading day by day.
But the thing is… Karl is a mysterious person. He treats Markus as if he were his equal, as if Markus were capable of feeling things, as if Markus were alive? Markus sometimes gets destabilized by Karl’s actions. Weird, right? Since he is not supposed to react to anything.
Kara takes care of the household of a man named Todd and his daughter Alice. She's been doing all the chores around as her system is telling her to do, but when Todd gets violent with Alice, will she resist the temptation of protesting? Of fighting this unfairness? Of showing her true nature?
And there's Connor, a deviant hunter. In the game, deviants are robots that revolted against their owners, and Connor’s job is to neutralize them so the population does not feel afraid and continue to buy them.
For the sake of his mission, he's then gonna team up with a strange lieutenant who hates robots for an unknown reason, but maybe Connor chose the wrong side from the start? Maybe he does not need to be controlled? What will he do? Fight against his own people or join them in this unique revolution?
I’m leaving you with that. And now what will YOU do? Will you pursue their quest of being free or will you leave them to their fate?
Remember, this is not just a story; this is their future.
