When studying, it can be difficult to stay focused as everything surrounding you can be a distraction. The birds, food, and especially electronic devices, can completely shift a student’s focus from their work. There are even more problems which leave students unable to focus on their studies. Thankfuly, there are solutions to these problems.
Before sleeping, it is recommended to charge or place your phone away from your bed, but close enough to hear the alarm ringing. When waking up, teenagers tend to use their phones the moment they wake up (this distracts the students). Distancing the phone from the bed will not only make the students get out of bed to switch off the alarm, but it will also reduce the chances of distractions (but this result usually depends on the student's willpower).
Waking up early to study is highly recommended. The brain usually functions much more easily in the morning, and the silence at the beginning of the day improves concentration.
Study your lessons the moment you receive them! Don't wait for a test to begin studying. You don't necessarily need to remember what you learned, but you should understand and easily explain the lesson (try using the Feinman technique). By doing this, studying for a test or exam will be much easier to achieve, because it’s easier to remember a lesson when you understand it.
When you have some free time, create some exercises for yourself to practice (this is mainly for math). This will reduce the risk of making a mistake or misunderstanding a question during an exam or test.
An important thing to know is that understanding and remembering your lessons isn’t enough. During exams, you will have questions that will test your ability to use the information that you have and solve problems. The question will not always specify what you must use to answer it. This is why you have to practice.
